Travel information

Sacramento airport (SMF)

If flying, we strongly encourage you to fly into Sacramento International Airport (SMF). SMF is 20-30 minutes by car from the Davis campus. If you take a Lyft or Uber, the price varies by time of day, maybe $30-$50. You may be able to coordinate and find other FPSAC participants who arrive at the same time as you to ride-share.

The Yolo bus is also a GREAT cheap alternative, but only runs hourly which might make it inconvenient depending on your flight time. Travel time between campus and airport is roughly 45 min and only $2 (exact fare); a bargain. Take the 42B bus from the airport to Davis (and the 42A bus if you are going from Davis to airport.)

San Francisco airport (SFO)

Unless you are spending time in the Bay Area, we recommend you avoid flying into San Francisco Airport SFO or Oakland Airport OAK; go straight to SMF. Plane tickets may be cheaper or have better schedules for SFO, but if the difference is less than $100 it is worth it; you are likley to spend more than that on ground transportation. Similary if a layover adds fewer than 3 hours to your travel itinerary, it is often worth it as you can expect to spend that much time using ground travel from SFO to Davis.

If you are arriving from San Francisco airport, here is useful information!

Driving and Parking:

To park on campus you need to download ParkMobile on your phone and follow the directions. To make life easier – before leaving for Davis (1) download the app (2) associate your car license plate to the account (3) link a credit card. It will be less stressful to do it ahead of time versus on arrival. This should allow you to park in visitor Lot 47 off of La Rue Road. But not the A lots 46,44 unless you maybe have special reciprocity from another UC or pay extra in the app for an A+ spot. Without a smartphone, paying for parking on campus will be quite difficult. But if you read the bottom of this website page, you will see how to do so from a home computer or regular phone.

Trains

The Amtrak train Capitol Corridor goes through Davis. The station in Davis is located at 840 2nd St. From here, walk about 8 blocks west, down 2nd Street, to campus.
